Mihai started his career as a forecaster in a stock trading company while finishing a degree in International Economic Relations in the late 90s. He then moved to Unilever South Central Europe, working in Finance, Sales and Marketing. In 2006 he moved to Pfizer Romania to lead the Consumer Healthcare business, which was later acquired by Johnson & Johnson. He then led the J&J Consumer business in Romania until 2012. An executive MBA in 2011-2012 reopened his appetite for learning. He followed it with a Sloan MSc at London Business School in 2013, looking for business ideas that can make a difference in the world. In parallel he started studying machine learning, which quickly became his primary field of activity. At the end of 2013 he co-founded Fresh4cast together with two colleagues from his Sloan class, with a mission to solve the critical problem of predictability in fresh produce. Today, the business is the leading provider of forecast-as-a-service in fruit & veg, covering 50% of the UK berry production as well as a growing proportion of other crops and geographies. A keen follower of Andrew Ng’s school of thought, Mihai believes that Artificial Intelligence is indeed “the new electricity” and that it can be used for significant positive change in the world.
